"It is the part of an uneducated person to blame others where he himself fares ill; to blame himself is the part of one whose education has begun; to blame neither another nor his own self is the part of one whose education is already complete."--Epictetus, Enchiridion

Reasons for Believing in USE, UOE, ULE, UAE

Directions: Pick the ones that work for you and vigorously repeat them daily.

Unconditional Self-Esteem (USE)

I am always of value because--

Fundamentally, I am the same as everyone else.

God loves me.

I am alive.

I am here.

I am made in the image of God.

I choose to value myself.

I have a purpose in life.

I have faith that I have value.

I have the right to exist.

Others choose to value me.

While it is possible to prove that my thoughts, feelings, and-or behaviors are bad--it is NOT possible to prove that my being is either good or bad.

Unconditional Other-Esteem (UOE)

They are always of value because--

Everyone is made in the image of God.

Fundamentally, they are the same as everyone else.

God loves everyone.

I choose to value all human beings equally.

I have faith that all humans have value.

Others choose to value them.

They are alive.

They are here on planet Earth.

They have a purpose in life.

They have the right to be here.

To value others is to value myself.

Unconditional Life-Esteem (ULE)

Life is always of value because--

God runs it.

I choose to love life.

I have enjoyed life before and I can again.

I have faith in the value of life.

I have the chance to go to heaven.

It is the best we have.

There is always some good in it.

There is love in the world.

Unconditional Ability-Esteem (UAE)

My ability is always of value because--

I am able to do many things.

I can do some things well.

I can make a difference.

I do have positive abilities.

I do have usefulness.

I do make contributions.

I have comforted others.

I have confidence in some areas.

I have encouraged others.

I have helped others.

I have made some things better.

My lack of talents in one area cannot override my real talents in another area.

Others do appreciate my contributions.
