4 MAIN COVERS
There are 4 main ways to cover the real payoffs for flesh. 1) Cover with pleasure. 2) Cover with beauty. 3) Cover with shoulds. 4) Cover with darkness.
1) Physical and-or ego pleasure can be used to cover, to disguise the real motives of our flesh nature.
2) Beauty, idols, sentiment, and other forms of attractive images can be used to hide and protect the real desires and actions of our flesh nature.
3) Shoulds, laws, rules, customs, mores, values, ideals, etc., can be used to make our real actions appear to be good when they are only evil.
4) Darkness, unconsciousness, subconsciousness, semiconsciousness, denial, and the like can be used to pretend our evil intentions do not exist.
COMPARE TO FREUD'S DEFENSE MECHANISMS

REAL PAYOFFS
The only payoff for flesh is to return to the original nature of flesh: before form. The original nature of flesh is negative void. The only way to return to negative void is through death and destruction. Death is self as some thing. Death is defining and identifying self as some thing. Destruction is self as more things from being some thing. Destruction is the further defining and identifying self as things. Mental chatter is destruction of self into more things based on being something: "If I am that then I must also be this." Becoming new things is not life but destruction. Being old things is not life but death. It matters not if the things are beautiful or ideal. Things are things and neither life nor the living can be things as they are being. Idolatry is God as something whether that thing is an image or a law. God is no thing no matter how beautiful or correct.
