Collection of Quality Coping Statements
I want . . . but I can tolerate what I get.

I fancy . . . but I can work it out if . . . .

I had sooner . . . but I can adapt either way.

I am inclined to . . . but I can survive if . . . .

I favor . . . but it isn't crucial to my happiness.

I would choose . . . but I won't fall apart if . . . .

I would like . . . but I can manage even if it doesn't.

I would sooner . . . but I can make do with whatever.

I lean to . . . but I can get along if it does or doesn't happen.

I would prefer it if . . . , but I can stand it if it doesn't happen.

I would like it better if . . . , but I can make the best of it if . . . .

My first choice would be . . . , but it is really not that important.

It would be nice if . . . were changed, but I can live with it as it is.

I am partial to . . . , but I can cope with life if it doesn't work out.

It is my predilection that . . . , but I will manage with or without it.

I wish . . . would happen, but I can cope with reality if it never does.

It would seem better if . . . , but I can accept it if . . . happens instead.

I would select . . . given the opportunity, but I can adapt to life with . . . anyway.

I want . . . to be corrected as soon as possible, but I will be OK even if it never is.

I would rather . . . , but in all honesty it really doesn't matter much in the long run.

I desire to control . . . , but I can make the best of my life even if I never learn how.

It is more desirable for me that . . . , but in a hundred years who will care or remember?

I want what I want and I want it now, but I've learned that it is not a catastrophe, a disaster, terrible, horrible, awful, or the end of the world even if I never get it.

MORE SENTENCE PHRASES: deal with, contend with, struggle with, wrestle with, grapple with, work it out, weather the storm, adjust to the facts, accommodate, acclimate, get used to, get accustomed to, be flexible, resolve myself to it, reconcile my wants, come to terms with, make peace, inure myself to it, temper my desire, hang tough, harden myself to it.
GENERAL COPING PHRASES: oh well, tough luck, that's the way the cookie crumbles, that's life, too bad, live and let live, take it one day at a time, all is not lost, tomorrow's another day, easy does it, stay flexible, relax, let it go, lighten up, you can't win them all, take it easy, it's no big deal, don't let it get to you, don't let it get the best of you, detach yourself from it, this too will pass, expect the worst and hope for the best, accept the things you cannot change and change the things you can, take a break, give it a rest, sleep on it, give yourself a break, give them the benefit of the doubt, who knows, who would have guessed, there's no telling, see it from their point of view, turn it over, tomorrow you'll see it in a new light, go back to it when you are fresh, we're all the same, think about it first, give it time, be patient, let it be, don't force it, count to ten, what goes around comes around, if you've got lemons--make lemonade, first make the best of what you got, be satisfied with your best effort, keep trying in trying times, stop stewing and start doing, don't look back unless that is where you want to go, stop moping and start coping, you need a destination to arrive, motivation follows action, what you resist persists, if it's to be it's up to me, each day is a new beginning, when your dreams turn to dust--vacuum, when the going gets tough the tough get going, keep on keeping on, keep on trucking, quitters never win and winners never quit, endure till the end, that's the way it is--too bad, I don't need what I want, I can tolerate what I don't like, don't take it so seriously, don't take yourself so seriously, don't be so serious, don't make a federal case out of it, like it or lump it, things can always get worse, keep your chin up, roll with the punches, the evil you know is better than the evil you don't know, learn what is serious and laugh at the rest, I can take it, the world won't come to an end, let it go in one ear and out the other, stuff happens, we'll do what we can, it's nothing, it's no big deal, one day it will all be just a memory, the Lord giveth and the Lord taketh.

QUOTATIONS VARIOUS SOURCES
"For what glory is it, if, when ye be buffeted for your faults, ye shall take it patiently? but if, when ye do well, and suffer for it, ye take it patiently, this is acceptable with God."--I Peter 2:20
"When I am disturbed, it is because I find some person, place, thing, or situation--some fact of my life--unacceptable to me, and I can find no serenity until I accept that person, place, thing, or situation as being exactly the way it is supposed to be at this moment."--Alcoholics Anonymous, 3rd Edition, page 449 (The Big Book)
